Sleep Apnea

Sleep Apnea is a potentially serious sleep disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts. If you snore loudly and feel tired even after a full night's sleep, you might have sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is typically categorized into three types:

  • Obstructive sleep apnea: When sleeping, the muscles in the throat may become relaxed and block the airway, leading to the most common form of sleep apnea.
  • Central sleep apnea: In instances where the brain fails to transmit signals to the muscles responsible for regulating breathing, a specific form of sleep apnea may manifest.
  • Complex sleep apnea syndrome: Treatment-emergent central sleep apnea is a combination of obstructive and central sleep apnea, commonly observed in certain conditions.

The seriousness of sleep apnea may differ, and it's best to consult with a medical and dental expert for a personalized evaluation based on your symptoms.
