Laser Dentistry
Tremendous advances have occurred since Lasers have been introduced in the field of dentistry. Several advantageous have been attributed to the use of Lasers in dentistry, including a reduced need for local anesthesia for tooth preparation, less discomfort due to the vibration and sound of the drill for the patient, Lasers also offer more conservative cavity preparation, less bleeding in surgical procedures and less need for sutures (stitches). In addition, conventional drilling of the hard tissues or caries may also produce adverse thermal side effects, such as pulpal injury, crack formation and hypersensitivity.
Historically dental patients have been bothered by the pain associated with conventional drills or during the administration of th e anesthesia; that’s why using Lasers has been received very well among patients. There is a quest to find a method to remove diseased and healthy dental hard tissue without the negative stimuli associated with dental drills.
Today, Lasers are being considered as a potential replacement. Lasers have made a remarkable impact on the delivery of dental care in the twenty-first century and will continue to do so as technology improves and evolves. Development of Laser technology in clinical dentistry is one of the principal concerns of today’s research.
